This coffee was produced by Bekele Kachara in Sidamo, Ethiopia, an area widely known for growing and producing high-quality coffee. For over two decades, Bekele Kachara has been dedicated to coffee cultivation, managing several farms in the Bensa wordea. His dedication is evident in the quality of the coffee grown on his land near Murago village.

You'll find unmissable notes of tropical fruit and blueberry, as well as milk chocolate with a velvety finish.

Bekele Kachara inherited his first farm in the village of Hache, Sidamo from his parents, before expanding his operation to a second farm in Murago. Here he cultivates the 74158 and 74110 varietals beneath the shade of intercropped fruit trees.

Bekele’s Hache farm focuses on the production of natural coffees, which are spread out to dry for 16 days on raised beds. Meanwhile the Murago site also has the capacity for anaerobics and uses an extended drying time of 20 - 25 days.

Sidamo, Ethiopia

This coffee was made possible with Mercota Trading Company. Mecota Trading was founded with the objective of consolidating microlots from smallholder farmers into viable export lots, offering a sustainable pathway to market for coffee farmers who otherwise would face barriers in reaching international buyers. Before founding Mecota Trading, Moata Raya spent 15 years working with TechnoServe on infrastructure projects that aimed to help Ethiopian producers find alternative markets outside of the Ethiopian Commodity Exchange, which often obscures the traceability of coffee.

This is a naturally processed coffee. Bekele’s expertise in coffee processing comes from years of experience, including work at independent businesses and cooperative-owned washing stations in the Bensa and Bona districts of the Sidama region. He continuously seeks to expand his coffee farm business, aiming to produce high-quality coffee through innovation and improvement.
