Migoti Peaberry - Burundi

Sale price£12.00
We received this coffee through our friends at Omwani Coffee who focus on building great relationships, and sourcing great coffee from producers and stations in Africa.
The washing station operates in a region referred to as Migoti Mountain in Mutambu Commune of Bujumbura and the Red Bourbon trees that grow here are owned by the community. Migoti purchases the cherry directly from the farmers who deliver the cherry to the station.
This coffee has sweet and juicy notes of blackberry and cola. We're currently loving this Migoti Peaberry in the roastery!

Every Coffee Has A Story

The name “Migoti” comes from a local indigenous tree, which is also the name of the mountain where Migoti built their first coffee washing station.

Burundi is among the smallest coffee-producing countries in East Africa, with a population of 10.5 million that is endowed with ideal conditions for coffee production: elevations of 1500 - 2000 m, Arabica Bourbon coffee trees, abundant rainfall, and approximately 800,000 families
who cultivate an average of 150-200 coffee trees per farm. Arabica coffee now represents virtually 100% of Burundi’s national production and the bourbon variety grown at high elevations in Burundi is characteristically “sweet with bright acidity, big body, floral, citrus and spiced with wild notes.”

What Does Our Colour System Mean?

We categorise each coffee into a colour system that identifies the 'vibe' and general tasting notes of that category of coffee. It can also have a relation to what brewing method works best, the processes used to create it or the varietal of the actual bean. Watch the video below to hear from a member of the team on what exactly this colour represents.
