Head Barista - Edinburgh (Coffee Shop)
We're currently looking for a passionate and experienced barista to join our team of coffee professionals at our flagship café. This is an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in our high-volume, high-energy environment, working alongside our team of baristas.
As Head Barista, you’ll be responsible for upholding our coffee quality standards in the cafe, working alongside our Head of Quality & Roasting to ensure our baristas our fully trained, and our coffee is tasting the best it can be.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver excellent customer service, making recommendations to customers and answering any questions regarding our coffee.
- Prepare coffees and other beverages to our high standards, ensuring that structure exists to make this repeatable on your days off.
- Lead service on the machine, ensuring that everyone maintains high standards always aiming to create a smooth customer experience.
- Assess the quality of coffee on bar and ensure this is done in a supportive, non-invasive manner.
- Maintain good raport with your team and be a source of contact for information regarding coffee related news interally within the business.
- Help to develop, launch and train staff on new drinks.
- Make yourself approachable to the wider coffee team at Cairngorm, including the Roastery Personnel.
- Implement and monitor coffee specific cleaning sheets ensuring that it is completed daily.
- Conduct stock takes of items required for serving coffee, and place orders through Orderspace.
- Maintain grinders and schedule equipment servicing with Operations Manager where required.
- Participate and help to host public cuppings within our cafe.
Our Ideal Candidate
- Two Years of Relevant Experience: Someone who has hands-on experience in crafting espresso-based beverages, understanding coffee profiles, and operating espresso machines.
- Advanced Coffee Knowledge: Has a proficiency in various brewing methods, understanding of coffee bean origins, roasting processes, and the necessary sensory skills to be able to assess and guide recipe creation.
- Passion for High Standards: An ability to consistently produce high-quality drinks and maintain standards in taste, presentation, and hygiene.
- Team Leadership Experience: Can demonstrate an ability to lead and train a team of baristas, providing mentorship and fostering a positive work environment.
- Passion for Coffee and Continuous Learning: Has a deep passion for coffee and a commitment to staying updated on industry trends and continually improving skills.

Foodie - Edinburgh (Coffee Shop)
As a Foodie at Cairngorm Coffee, you’ll bring energy, enthusiasm, and a creative spirit to the table—literally. You’ll be responsible for crafting dishes that reflect our ethos, curating food experiences that complement our coffee, and ensuring our customers leave impressed (and maybe snapping photos of their plates!).
Key Responsibilities
- Complete food prep every morning and craft menu items to order.
- Ensure food is prepared to the highest quality, align with our brand values, and stay mindful of cost and workflow considerations.
- Experiment with dishes and ingredients, keeping things fresh, seasonal, and sustainable.
Jump in on the till when needed, maintain smooth communication with FOH staff, and support a unified customer experience. - Share knowledge and motivate others to understand and execute food preparation with the same care and finesse as you.
You Will Need:
- Passion for food and love for creating exciting, thoughtful dishes with a flair for current trends. You should enjoy discovering new ideas and bringing them to life.
- Adaptability and creativity with confidence in cooking for dietary requirements (Vegetarian, Vegan, Gluten-Free) and working within equipment and licensing limitations.
- Attention to detail and strong organisational skills for managing orders, stock control, and compliance with food safety standards.
- Team-first mentality! You’ll work closely with both the FOH and wider Cairngorm team, so communication and collaboration are key.

Bookkeeper - Scotland (Roastery/Remote)
We’re looking for a part-time Bookkeeper to join our small, ambitious team. This role involves working with Xero, Dext, and Soldo software to help us maintain a tidy and organised financial position.
As a Bookkeeper at Cairngorm Coffee, your primary responsibility will be to manage and maintain our financial records with accuracy and efficiency. You’ll have the flexibility to split your time between our roastery near Portobello and remote working. If you’re a detail-oriented individual with a love for numbers and want to be part of a dynamic and growing business, we’d love to hear from you.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensuring all financial data is accurately recorded and reconciled in Xero.
- Using Dext to process and organize invoices, receipts, and expense records.
- Managing transactions and monitoring budgets through Soldo.
- Reconciling bank accounts regularly to maintain an up-to-date financial overview.
- Preparing financial summaries and reports to support decision-making within the business.
- Assisting in VAT submissions and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
- Identifying and addressing any discrepancies in financial records promptly.
- Sending invoices to clients and responding to any accounts based queries.
What’s the Package?
- £14/hour, based on experience.
- Part-time with an expectation for 20 hours per week, with flexible working arrangements split between the roastery near Portobello and remotely.
