Barista - Edinburgh (Coffee Shop)
As a vital member of the Cairngorm Barista Team, the role of a Barista is dynamic and multifaceted, encompassing a blend of leadership, operational finesse, and a passion for delivering an unparalleled coffee experience. Whatever role you play on the machine, you will be pivotal in ensuring the day-to-day operations of the cafe's coffee program run seamlessly.
This involves not only crafting exceptional coffees and beverages to high standards but also maintaining a positive team atmosphere and fostering strong relationships with both customers and colleagues.
In addition to leading by example and working well with your team, the Barista is tasked with overseeing daily machine maintenance, following all structures for efficiency, and contributing to the overall success of the Barista Team. From conducting stock takes and introducing new coffees to participating in quality control channels, the Barista's role extends beyond the counter to actively engage in the growth and innovation of Cairngorm Coffee and its community.
This dynamic position offers an exciting opportunity for individuals to progress as leaders, nurture a positive team culture, and contribute to the cafe's commitment to delivering exceptional coffee experiences to its diverse and valued customer base.
Key Responsibilities:
Quality Coffee Craftsmanship:
- Uphold the excellence of all coffee and drinks leaving the bar, setting the standard for your team in terms of taste, presentation, and consistency.
- Work alongside the ‘Roastery Team’ to educate and inspire the wider team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and curiosity
Team Leadership and Development:
- Take charge of day-to-day management of the coffee area, providing leadership and mentorship to elevate the skills and performance of your colleagues.
- Engage actively with all opportunities for further training and development, identifying opportunities for progression and addressing training needs proactively.
- Maintain a well-presented appearance in adherence to Cairngorm Coffee uniform standards, showcasing professionalism and humility. Set an example with this and show to the wider community that being a part of the ‘Cairngorm Barista Team’ is something aspirational.
Stock Management and Order Control:
- Assist your Supervisor to manage coffee bar stocks efficiently, supporting in ordering products, and maintaining rigorous control to prevent shortages or surplus.
- Contribute to weekly stock takes, ensuring accuracy and adherence to Cairngorm Coffee's standards. This is especially important to ensure adequate resting of coffee inline with company expectations.
Operational Excellence:
- Support the ‘Cairngorm Barista Team’ in running the entire coffee area to impeccably high standards, actively participating in opens and closes to set the bar for your team.
- Troubleshoot equipment faults, perform basic repairs, and ensure adherence to maintenance schedules to optimise workflow.
- Complete necessary cleaning administration and show a passion to work within an environment that understands the importance, and subsequent optics with regard to professionalism, that working within a clean and organised environment has.
Customer Experience and Hospitality:
Embody the Cairngorm Coffee values; creating positive vibes, displaying service without reservation, being curious and not ashamed to be progressive, and establishing connections with regulars to create memorable experiences for them and our team.

- Collaboration and Communication:
- Communicate regularly with the ‘Leadership Team’, providing valuable insights on staff scheduling, sales opportunities, and drinks training and development.
- Collaborate with suppliers, maintaining courteous relationships and actively participating in decisions related to products and inventory.

Vibemaster - Edinburgh (Coffee Shop)
As a Vibemaster at Cairngorm Coffee you’ll need to be an energetic and enthusiastic person who likes to get their hands dirty and enjoys being part of a hard-working team. You’ll be interchangeable with the ‘Tillmaster’ (helping to serve customers and take orders), and as a duo work to ensure the atmosphere within the cafe is fantastic. You’ll do this by ensuring that efficient, professional and friendly customer service is delivered at all times, creating a memorable experience on every occasion.
You are responsible for the appearance of the shop, happiness of your customers, and ensuring the atmosphere in the shop is fantastic. We believe our Melville Place cafe can be one of Edinburgh’s best F&B venues and with your help we are going to achieve that.

Key Responsibilities
- Greet customers with a friendly and welcoming attitude, ensuring a positive first impression.
- Provide expert guidance on our coffee offerings, including details about origin, flavour profiles, and brewing methods.
- Create a personalised experience by actively listening to customer preferences and making appropriate beverage recommendations.
- Respond to customer inquiries, resolve concerns, and maintain a high level of customer satisfaction.
- Set an exceptional tone for customer service, taking pride in the quality of the service that you provide is fundamental to this role. - Clearing tables and ensuring the customers' side, including outside, is spotless.
- Serve drinks to tables, provide customers with water, and proactively try to provide them with a great experience.

Foodie - Edinburgh (Coffee Shop)
As a Foodie at Cairngorm Coffee, you’ll bring energy, enthusiasm, and a creative spirit to the table—literally. You’ll be responsible for crafting dishes that reflect our ethos, curating food experiences that complement our coffee, and ensuring our customers leave impressed (and maybe snapping photos of their plates!).
Key Responsibilities
- Complete food prep every morning and craft menu items to order.
- Ensure food is prepared to the highest quality, align with our brand values, and stay mindful of cost and workflow considerations.
- Experiment with dishes and ingredients, keeping things fresh, seasonal, and sustainable.
Jump in on the till when needed, maintain smooth communication with FOH staff, and support a unified customer experience. - Share knowledge and motivate others to understand and execute food preparation with the same care and finesse as you.
You Will Need:
- Passion for food and love for creating exciting, thoughtful dishes with a flair for current trends. You should enjoy discovering new ideas and bringing them to life.
- Adaptability and creativity with confidence in cooking for dietary requirements (Vegetarian, Vegan, Gluten-Free) and working within equipment and licensing limitations.
- Attention to detail and strong organisational skills for managing orders, stock control, and compliance with food safety standards.
- Team-first mentality! You’ll work closely with both the FOH and wider Cairngorm team, so communication and collaboration are key.

Bookkeeper - Scotland (Roastery/Remote)
We’re looking for a part-time Bookkeeper to join our small, ambitious team. This role involves working with Xero, Dext, and Soldo software to help us maintain a tidy and organised financial position.
As a Bookkeeper at Cairngorm Coffee, your primary responsibility will be to manage and maintain our financial records with accuracy and efficiency. You’ll have the flexibility to split your time between our roastery near Portobello and remote working. If you’re a detail-oriented individual with a love for numbers and want to be part of a dynamic and growing business, we’d love to hear from you.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensuring all financial data is accurately recorded and reconciled in Xero.
- Using Dext to process and organize invoices, receipts, and expense records.
- Managing transactions and monitoring budgets through Soldo.
- Reconciling bank accounts regularly to maintain an up-to-date financial overview.
- Preparing financial summaries and reports to support decision-making within the business.
- Assisting in VAT submissions and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
- Identifying and addressing any discrepancies in financial records promptly.
- Sending invoices to clients and responding to any accounts based queries.
What’s the Package?
- £14/hour, based on experience.
- Part-time with an expectation for 20 hours per week, with flexible working arrangements split between the roastery near Portobello and remotely.
