The name is derived from The Bakonzo Tribe. A group of descendants living throughout the Rwenzori Mountains, covering both Uganda and Democratic Republic of Congo. Individuals do not necessarily identify as
citizens of either country, they will proudly announce their Bakonzo heritage. These incredible people combined with our dream to connect these coffees and people with roasters and cafes, is where the name was born. 
We are so thrilled to have this returning coffee back. Bukonzo Dream has been consistently one of our favourite coffees in the past, primarily due to the coffee's rich and syrupy body with its high sweetness and fruity qualities.

Agri Evolve

Since establishment in 2015, Agri Evolve has been on a mission to reshape the landscape of agriculture business in Uganda. Focused on benefiting farmers, their families, and communities, the company has carved a niche in the Rwenzori region of Western Uganda. A robust network of 20,000 registered smallholder farmers and a dedicated team of 80 full-time staff form the backbone of operations at Agri Evolve, which is the largest employer in the region. Working with a hands-on approach, Agri Evolve's field team collaborates directly with local agriculture agents (referred to as Agri Evolve’s ‘Agri Partners’) and farmers on a day-to-day basis. This face-to-face engagement is just one example of their commitment to continuously improve rural livelihoods through the development and support of an efficient supply chain.

Rwenzori Mountains, Uganda

Located in the Rwenzori Mountains, this beautiful Natural coffee was made possible with the hard work of Agri Evolve, a not for profit organisation working with local Ugandan farmers.

The name really piqued our interest and is derived from The Bakonzo Tribe, a group of descendants living throughout the mountains covering both Uganda and Democratic Republic of Congo. Individuals do not necessarily identify as citizens of either country, they will proudly announce their Bakonzo heritage. These incredible people combined with our dream to connect these coffees and people with roasters and cafes, is where the name was born.

Around 300-500 smallholders contribute to each lot of Agri Evolve’s coffee. The average farm size of these small holders is about 1.5-2.2 acres.

Natural

The ripe and red cherries are collected after 6 hours of harvest. After this they are put on raised drying beds for 30-35 days, being turned over regularly and sorted through to further remove defects. The dry cherries are taken off at 10-11% of moisture content

Dry Parchment/cherry is transported to the miller and is milled to get graded by size and density. After milling the Green beans are sorted to remove some remaining defects, after which the coffee is assessed by the Quality Lab to finally put into Grainpro and sacks for Quality preservation before it is shipped.
