Nelson Ramirez - Honduras

Sale price£13.00
At Cairngorm, we pride ourselves on our long-standing relationships with coffee farmers such as Nelson Ramirez, whose Androz farm has supplied us with coffee for three consecutive years now. In October, we had the pleasure of cupping this special Honduras coffee alongside the exporter Benjamin Paz and Matt Randell of Langdon Coffee Merchants.
This washed anaerobic coffee has a bold yet bright character, evoking the flavours of blood orange, maple syrup, and cherry. For those who prefer a cup with a slightly funkier, richer taste, this 'Naughty' coffee is sure to be a hit.

Every Coffee Has A Story

Discover More | Nelson Ramirez - Honduras

The farm that grows this great coffee is called Androz and is run by third generation producer Nelson Ramirez. He had always helped his father and grandfather on their farms, and when he was 18 years old he went to study agronomy at university. Four years afterwards he graduated and worked for a food industry company but he longed to have, and once again work on, a coffee farm.

With a strong desire to produce high quality coffee, in 2007 a friend phoned up Nelson to tell him of a great property for sale on "El Cielito". Wasting no time at all, he visited the farm and bought it immediately.

That year he worked to rejuvenate the plants and started to produce his first crops of coffee. By the next year he had prepared his first micro-lot, thanks to Angel Paz of San Vicente Mil, and could sell it as specialty coffee.

His evolution recently has been fascinating, focussing on organic and biodiverse farming to improve quality and his impact on the environment, even if it means a smaller crop and reduced profits.

Purple Coffee

What Does Our Colour System Mean?

We categorise each coffee into a colour system that identifies the 'vibe' and general tasting notes of that category of coffee. It can also have a relation to what brewing method works best, the processes used to create it or the varietal of the actual bean. Watch the video below to hear from a member of the team on what exactly this colour represents.
