Murambi Hill - Burundi

Sale price£12.00
We're so pleased to bring back Murambi Hill, one of our all-time favourite Burundis from our friends at Omwani. Omwani Coffee focus on building great relationships, and sourcing great coffee from producers and stations in Africa. You may have tried our release of Murambi Hill, Naturally processed this time last year. This year, we've brought you a Washed process for a very clean cup, reminiscent of raspberry jam, and the classic strawberries and cream. This one is certainly a crowd-pleaser whether you're looking for a juicy espresso or a fruity batch brew!

Washing Station

The Migoti Coffee Company process all of the coffee from the Murambi Hills at their processing station in Bujumbura.

They source some of the best coffee across all of Burundi. Together with Omwani they have purchased cherries directly from farmers dispersed across the mountains overlooking Lake Tanganyika to be processed back at the Migoti Hill washing station.

02

Red Bourbon

Red Bourbon coffee is popular in Africa due to its adaptability to the region's high altitudes and diverse climates. Its rich, complex flavours with bright acidity and fruit-forward notes make it one of our favourites.

Introduced by European missionaries in the 19th century, Red Bourbon has become deeply rooted in Africa's coffee-growing culture. Despite not being the most disease-resistant variety, its ability to produce good yields and command higher prices in international markets has solidified its economic importance across the continent.

03

Omwani

The importers Omwani have been working with Migtoi since 2020 and since then have imported around 80 tonnes, supporting thousands of farmers.

Their sourcing is driven by the desire to strengthen relationships between producers and roasters. They source great coffee at fair prices, with none of the corporate smoke and mirrors.

What Does Our Colour System Mean?

We categorise each coffee into a colour system that identifies the 'vibe' and general tasting notes of that category of coffee. It can also have a relation to what brewing method works best, the processes used to create it or the varietal of the actual bean. Watch the video below to hear from a member of the team on what exactly this colour represents.

'Red Coffee' like this one feature rich, syrupy sweet tasting notes. You will often find Summer Fruits like Strawberry, Raspberry and other taste berries. They are some of our most diverse coffees, often working great as a juicy espresso as well as filter coffee with high sweetness.
